Ministry of Defence
The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that the award of their Worldwide Food Supply Contract has been made to Purple Foodservice Solutions Ltd. The combined value of the food and logistical components of the contract is around £150 million per annum.
The contract, one of the most complex and exacting supply chain operations in the UK, requires that 1,500 ambient, fresh, chilled and frozen food products be delivered on a frequent basis to 1,200 military locations, including operational and exercise locations, and HM Ships and Submarines. Current locations include the South Atlantic, Germany, Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as establishments in the United Kingdom.
Purple Foodservice Solutions (PFS) is a specially created organisation which brings together the skills and resources of DBC FOODSERVICE, Supreme Foodservice and the Vestey Group. DBC will provide the logistical requirements within the UK, with Supreme operating overseas depot locations. The Vestey Group will be a major supplier of meat and poultry products.
The MOD contract award represents exciting prospects for DBC as we embrace the challenge of operating to the MOD's dedicated requirements around the UK.
