DBC recognises the longer term benefits of supporting Fair Trade initiatives, and consequently DBC stock a wide range of 'fair trade' products which are available to all customers.
DBC has agreements with a number of organisations who support fair trade to ensure that additional products can be made available to customers if required.
Local Suppliers
Use of Local Suppliers
DBC recognise the benefits of sourcing products on a local basis – particularly the reduction in transport requirements and the subsequent environmental benefits.
DBC Purchasing team regularly attend local 'meet the buyer' events with the aim of developing sustainable local suppliers. Such suppliers will be introduced into DBC for the benefit of local customers, providing they can meet the standards required under DBC's Purchasing Policy – particularly in terms of food safety.
DBC works with its customers to identify potential local suppliers and DBC's purchasing team are briefed to ensure that local suppliers are given full opportunity of supplying their products.
Organic Products
Organic Products
DBC recognises the benefits of organic farming and has available for customers a wide range of organic products – both in retail and catering pack sizes.
As part of a programme to develop sales of organic products, DBC has reached agreement with a specialist supplier of organic products such that a wide range of products can be made available to DBC for any customers who require them.
